How To Download Music Videos Onto My iPod – An Easy Guide!

I know how the download music into my iPod but how do I download music videos?

This is a very familiar question which has a very simple and straightforward solution.

The first thing to consider when either playing music videos or movies on the iPod is the issue of compatibility. This sounds more complicated than what it really is but it’s absolutely vital to have a compatible download that will play on your iPod. It’s like trying to make Orange marmalade out of Lemons – it’s just not possible unless you have the files converted.

The best way to see if a movie or music video is compatible is to firstly open up the iTunes interface. You then source the video which you are looking to copy and select the ‘manage songs and playlists’ in the iPod tab in your iTunes preferences section. Once you have selected the tab then try and copy the music video file or movie file directly into your iPod library. If the music video or movie copies to the iPod then it will be compatible and you should be able to play it without any problems.

However, if the music video or movie does not copy directly to the iPod library it means you have a compatibility issue. This is not the end of the world it just means that if you really want this music video onto your iPod you’re going to have to convert it.

There are many converters in the market, many free but more of the decent ones will cost anything from $15-$35. Using this conversion method will mean that you have to convert the file in either a PC or notebook before transferring the file.

One thing that is important to know here is that if you have a Mac formatted iPod then you will only be able to add the file from a Mac and not from a Windows-based PC.

Another way of finding out whether a video is compatible is similar to the method above. I have found this method to be the most effective – you simply open up QuickTime (hopefully you have that already installed-if not, it’s free, just look up the QuickTime site and download it).

All you simply do, is open up QuickTime, select ‘window’ and click on short movie information. If the music video that you are looking to copy registers(shows up) in the information window-then it will be iPod compatible!

The easiest method!

There is an easier method to consider and this is the use of specialist sites which cater for iPod downloads. These are commonly referred to as unlimited download sites. The benefit of these sites, the reputable ones that is, is that they are not much more than $35 (lifetime membership). An iPod user can download music videos, movies and music from one source, virus free and the sites include conversion software as part of the package.

This means that you will be able to download music videos into your iPod with the least amount of hassle. Whilst, the selection of music, music videos and movies may not be as extensive as in iTunes most of these sites have very current movies and music videos on the database files. This means that you will have access to music video files which are ready to transfer directly to your iPod in nearly all cases.
